Who are the Friends of the Yucca Valley Library?
The Friends are community volunteers dedicated to raising additional funds to supplement library resources and programs that will serve this community. Through our book sales, auctions, events, and membership dues, we can provide everything from performers for the enjoyment of children participating in the Summer Reading Program to the daily newspapers that so many enjoy reading in the library. Please look over our website to discover the many ways of participating in our non-profit fundraising efforts. And remember, "When in doubt, go to the library" (JK Rowling in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).
Book Sale
Visit our BOOK SALE ROOM for the best book bargains in town. When you enter the library, take a left into our BOOK SALE ROOM, an alcove that used to be a bank vault! There you will find fiction and nonfiction titles in hardback or softcover. Choose from mystery, fantasy, biography, young adult and children's books. Looking for books on your favorite hobby? Diet and cooking books? Books on art or animals? Audio books to listen to while traveling or DVDs for your family movie night? All for a dollar or less in our BOOK SALE ROOM.
Donations of your books are welcome, too, the resale of which is a primary source of funding for the Friends. Only gently used books, but no romances, please. Also, we don't have space for encyclopedias, old medical books, or computer or technology manuals. Books, audio books, and DVDs can be donated whenever the library is open or placed in the book drop.
Membership
The Friends of the Yucca Valley Library would like to have YOU as a Friend! Join the Friends of the Library and help us to continue supporting the Yucca Valley Library and our community! Your membership payment helps the Friends provide supplemental funding for many library activities and projects including on-going support for the Summer Reading Programs for children and teens. In addition, your membership dues fund the purchase of library materials such as newspapers, DVDs, and books, as well as providing funding for computer and software updates. Click on our Membership link and become a member of the Friends of the Yucca Valley Library today.
Silent Online Auction
We use these auction funds to purchase books, DVDs and newspapers. The Friends also support the Summer Reading Program by providing funds for performers and reading resources. In addition, the Friends have contributed to the funding of the new library building itself. All our funds go to enhancing community resources at the Yucca Valley Library.
